Apple’s App Store has marked a big milestone. The Store has got to the 10 billion downloads mark of both paid and free apps. Gail Davis of Orpington , Kent in UK was the lucky user who made the 10th billion download when she downloaded  the Paper Glider app. Davis is one happy user having been the recipient of a cool $10, 000 iTunes gift card just like that. The App Store allows people to download software programs and games for their iOS devices. With this milestone, Apple’s competitors, Google and Palm have a long way to go before they are able to catch up with Apple. The App Store has over 350,000 apps and over 60,000 of these are native iPad apps. According to Phil Schiller, the vice president of world wide product marketing, last year was quite a big one for the App store which saw 7 billion apps downloaded. The App Store has been in business for only two and a half years and its performance is so far impressive.  To date Apple has shipped over 160 million iOS devices which include the iPad, iPhone and the iPod Touch. At this rate there is no telling when Apple will be announcing its next big milestone achievement.
