Facebook Takes Over Yahoo’s Position
That Facebook has been growing in leaps and bounds is not new information. For the last year and a half Facebook has been on the fourth position in the world’s largest websites ranking. Its number of unique visitors has kept on growing and in October this year it was in a “somewhat tie” with Yahoo standing at 633 million unique visitors from around the world. It was a “somewhat tie” because in actual fact Facebook had surpassed Yahoo with around half a million visitors. According to comScore, November saw Facebook give Yahoo a clear margin in the number of visitors. Facebook had around 648 million unique visitors while Yahoo got 630 million unique visitors. So who are in the first and second position? Google of course is still king of the internet having got 970 million visits and Microsoft was number two with 869 visitors. These figures represent the collective sum of visitors to their sites. Currently Facebook gets a 25 percent share of all display ads in the U.S. This represents more than a double of the display ads that Yahoo gets. It is only recently when Facebook surpassed Yahoo to become the second largest video site as well as the number two traffic source for other video sites. Facebook has proven to be Yahoo’s greatest competitor.
